Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition in which the pressure in your vascular system is dangerously elevated to the point that it can damage your body. Medications that decrease blood pressure are some of the most commonly prescribed medications in healthcare, but they are often prescribed without adequate lifestyle intervention first. Patients are rarely educated about what they can do to decrease their blood pressure without medications and they often find themselves being persuaded by their primary care doctors that they have to start taking a medication to get their blood pressure under control.
While some patients have rare underlying medications that require blood pressure medications, the vast majority of patients have high blood pressure due to poor dietary habits in addition to being overweight. We direct our focus to decreasing high blood pressure without resorting to medications when possible by addressing the root causes of high blood pressure.
